WMUR’s got competition. WBIN-TV is new to New Hampshire and is already making a splash in the news scene by showing up where WMUR won’t. I was at the unveiling of the BEARCAT almost the entire time, and I did not see a WMUR reporter there at any point. However, WBIN reporter (and Keene-area native) Garrett Brnger was there and reported on both sides of the BEARCAT issue, interviewing CopBlock.org‘s Pete Eyre and yours truly:
About Pete Eyre
Pete Eyre self-describes as a voluntaryist and hails from the Midwest. He went to undergrad and grad school for law enforcement, ultimately concluding that he could have a bigger impact through other avenues. In addition to being active with Cop Block, he's interned at the Cato Institute, been a Koch Fellow placed at the Drug Policy Alliance, Directer of Campus Outreach at the Institute for Humane Studies, Crasher-in-Chief at Bureaucrash, a contractor for the Future of Freedom Foundation and co-founder of the Motorhome Diaries and Liberty On Tour.
“…annual pumpkin festival could be a potential terrorist target.” Yeah, from the city wielding an armored tank.
Also, “hopes they never have to use it”? If they have it, they’re going to use it. Maybe not today, but eventually, the thought in the back of their heads that that is an option will eventually lead to the use of it. Or rather the misuse of it.
Shouldn’t requirement #1 of the acquisition of such an object be proof that it is necessary? Forgive me if I’m out of touch with my Keene History, but what did Keene suffer that would’ve ended better had this been in their possession? Additionally, what could happen anywhere that would require this, but only one of this?
Its not militarization , its…a rescue vehicle. Yeah, thats the ticket.
why the hell does keene need a military armored truck for rescues my ass i was a paramedic in NH and do not recall ever needing nor wanting an armored truck for rescues, the pigs in keene like wasting tax dollars just like most towns and cities in NH,the cops want us average no badges to fear them so the fat bastards do not have to break a sweat just show how to entice fear in to the public protect and serve my ass it should be to fear, intimidate,be bullies, steal, and eat doughnuts
