Philadelphia Cops Beat Handcuffed Suspect

I’m not sure what led up to this but you can see the officer punch this handcuffed individual in the face then slam him into the car. The description on the video says “White cops plant a gun on an innocent black men and then twice punch him in the face after he is handcuffed and falsely arrested.” Although that is unconfirmed at this point.

He wasn’t exactly cooperating, but regardless, that doesn’t mean the punch in the face was warranted. Of course, cop lovers will tell you different.

  2. MC says:

I don’t know..I hate cops as much as the next guy but I didn’t see any rights being violated there, just an uncooperative suspect being subdued…maybe a little rough but if you’re polite and non-threatening you can avoid alot more trouble…but I still hate cops…lol

  3. chase says:

im confused, the white cop is yelling “pussy” right before he strikes the man in the face. imagine that, punching someone who has their hands tied behind there back, and who is also being held by a fellow officer,.AND CALLING THEM THE PUSSY!!! HA HA HA. officer(s) , uncuff the man, put down the radios and fancy utility belts, and fight the guy one on one if that’s what you want, cause it appears that way. oh wait, you probably prefer the earlier, after all you are cops, and studies do show that most cops have very similar mentalities to rapists and molesters, that is they dont want or appreciate any resistance from there victims.

  4. , says:

He calls the cop a pussy for hitting and beating him while restrained, you call that resisting, or not cooperating? wtf WE ARE IN CIVIL WAR

    This video isn’t new:

It’s difficult to determine what happened in the video, but if you watch it carefully it appears that the officers recover a gun before punching the man in the face. The officer holds out the gun and says, “why don’t you put that on the internet too,” at some point.

    Josh

“the right to bear arms SHALL NOT be infringed”
What does it matter if they took a gun off the man?
I see 3 dirty cops who belong in prison.

  7. Aaron says:

I can’t help but feel suspicious that this video has been edited in some way..

Given that, it doesn’t seem to show the suspect doing anything but being uncooperative, nothing that seemed to necessitate the extra violence. Unnecessary violence is not okay, even if it’s just a single punch to make an uncooperative suspect submit. And also regardless of whether the suspect deserves it, because the police aren’t supposed to be the jury, or executioner.

But like I said, my gut says this video was edited at some point to make the cops look worse.

  8. Josh Wolf says:

    Chris,

I’m not going to take a position whether the alleged discovery of a gun during the search should justify a police response. I think punching a handcuffed man in the face is a reprehensible act that is very difficult to justify, but I was writing to simply suggest that there may be more going on in the video than one takes away from Rob’s description.

  9. WOW says:

well the law used to be hitting people after they were cuffed got you in trouble but now day you can shoot them in the back

  10. DClan says:

It looks to me as if the cop punched him because the cop KNEW he was being filmed- look at the way the cop looks at the camera after the guy is taken to the ground, it’s as if he’s saying ” I can do this and you can do nothing about it, go ahead and tape it- I DON’T CARE ” as he points to his badge.
