Carlos Miller, author of the Photography is Not a Crime blog, was attacked by a Miami-Dade Metrorail security guard. The guard stole Miller’s video camera (though it was eventually returned). When Miller began filming with his iPhone, the guard began pushing him while attempting to steal the phone. Eventually, the guard struck Miller and he struck back.
Miller managed to get video (captured by his iPhone) of part of the incident up on YouTube.

THE COUNTRY’S DEFENSES RELY ON THE COMMON FOLKS-AS THE FIRST “BELL-RINGERS OF INTELLIGENCE”. IT WAS THE FARMERS AND FISHERMEN IN CUBA WHO ALERTED FIDEL CASRO TO THE INCURSION OF THE UNITED STATES AT THE “BAY OF PIGS”. IT WAS A WASHINGTON STATE CUSTOMS AGENT THAT STOPPED A 1999 EXPLOSIVES SMUGGLER AT THE CANADIAN BOARDER-ON HIS WAY TO BLOW UP LAX. THE POINT IS-IT IS ORDINARY PEOPLE WHO DO THE SERVICE-AND WE UN-EMPLOY THESE FOLKS, ABUSE THEM, AND GENERALLY LOOK ON THEM AS LESS THEN VERMIN. We too, have been actively pursuing the “why-and-wherefore” OF “THE 50 STATE SECURITY” outsourced phenomenon. In MIAMI-it seems the agency is embarking on termination exercises against folks signed on to their medical coverage-because the agency rates went up-folks were using their coverages! Shame on them! They were told by the insurance provider they would get better rates if they hired younger recruits-so 50 STATE RESPONSE-was to start stuffing the files of these health care users with objectionable reprimands, and they removed them from duty-claiming they were to be removed by the client without explanation!Stuffed files with negative, unverified reprimands,vacated vacation pay with documented lack-of-performance criteria previously not appearing in otherwise good employee’s files, and hostile surveillance on older employees.This economic harassment and belligerence is not only uncalled for-it is illegal. it violates the anti-discrimination laws toward the elderly-and a class-action litigation is in the works on behalf of past employees affected by this wrong treatment.
IF MIAMI HAS CONSTANT HIRING NEEDS OF “YOUNGER SECURITY GUARDS” TO SATISFY INSURERS OF MEDICAL COVERAGE, AND MIAMI HAS 4 APPLICANTS FOR EVERY JOB, AND BLACKS HAVE AN INCREASINGLY HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT STATISTIC—–JUST WHO ARE THESE OUTSOURCED SECURITY AGENCIES ACTUALLY HIRING??!
