News from Liberty On Tour: Good cop, bad cop

Adam and Pete have been busy with their Liberty On Tour project, leaving little of their time to dedicate to Cop Block. They have, however, managed to put together some great police-related content for Liberty On Tour, so they asked the rest of the CB team to blog about it.

In this first video, Pete talks to a couple of police officers in Connecticut and gives a few tips on how to interact with police. I’m pleased to say that these officers were polite, gave their names/badge numbers when asked, did not resort to threats, and were actually helping someone with a property dispute instead of harassing someone or arresting someone for a victimless “crime.”

Be sure to keep an eye out for the Cop Block advertisement on the side of MARV, Adam and Pete’s RV.

How To Interact With Cops

by Pete Eyre on 05. Aug, 2010 in Activism

EDGEWATER, NJ – The day before we officially kicked-off Liberty On Tour we had a little run-in with the local “authorities”. It wasn’t anything too big – a property owner complained that MARV was parked in his parking lot – but we thought we’d share some video from the incident in the hope that it helps communicate some pointers on how to interact with the cops.

After my arraignment in Greenfield, MA on Monday Adam and I drove to Danbury, CT, to position us a bit closer to NYC – our first of 13 stops for LOT. Unfortunately the parking lot at the Starbucks – where we were working from – wasn’t too big so we parked across the street. At one point I returned to MARV where it was quiet to record a narrative when I noticed two Danbury cops pull up. Fortunately, I had my video camera nearby and as this video shows and we were soon on our way.

Next, Adam and Pete joined Julian Heicklen and other activists to hand out jury nullification information from the Fully Informed Jury Association outside of a courthouse in NYC. Unfortunately, a group of costumed thugs decided to prove my point that government in the United States is no different than government elsewhere.

Note that these law enforcement officials were the polar opposite of the police Pete ran into in Connecticut. They were confrontational, they (for the most part) refused to identify themselves, and they arrested Julian Heicklen over an activity that is not only victimless, but is protected by the First Amendment.

DHS Protects NYC from Educational Material

by Adam Mueller on 06. Aug, 2010 in Activism

NEW YORK, NY – On the first official day of Liberty On Tour Pete and I headed down to 500 Pearl St to meet up with Julian Heicklen, ‘Bile’ and Darren Wolfe for FIJA outreach.  As seen in the video above it was an eventful day and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did their job; protecting folks from gaining valuable knowledge.

It amazes me that handing out educational material can land you in a cage.  Is this not the year 2010?  Doesn’t everyone know that education is a great thing?  How do those employed by the DHS continue to arrest Julian for such an honorable act?  Do they not realize that they are going against just about every oath they swore to uphold?  I bet they would think differently if they ever found themselves infront of a jury.

I encourage anyone in the New York area or anywhere for to do some FIJA outreach.  Again, if handing out fliers that inform people of their rights, which wouldn’t be need if judges would do this in the court, then what will they come for next?  It only takes a few minutes out of your day and its a great form of activism.

Feel free to contact Julian via email at [email protected]  He’s more than happy to add you to his email list.  (Though the feds are most likely monitoring his emails)

Also check BlogofBile for updates on his and Julian’s pending lawsuit against the DHS thugs.

I would also check out the details of George Donnelly’s legal trouble. George writes the Arm your Mind for Liberty blog. He was arrested while helping Julian Heicklen with FIJA outreach back in May.

Damn Fine work men, you guys are answering a call that has been going out to every American for the last 30 years or more. The harder you guys work the louder and clear the call becomes to all of us that we should follow you example and not just turn a blind eye and act as though we don’t see what is wrong. But that we can Shine a nice bright light and camera on it and in every way possible, fight the good fight and stand up.

    Thank you

Nice work, guys. This NYC protest is definitely one of your better executed encounters. I enjoy and admire your relentless pursuit of these thugs and laugh and revel at their damning silence when asked honest questions.
