Caleb, featured on CopBlock.org lastweek, (also here) of the Cheshire Co Sheriff’s department tried to tell myself and others that questioning folks about their actions is illegal. He called it stalking or intimidating but it was the exact same thing he was doing. Was he not stalking us or wasn’t he intimidating, afterall, he did have a gun. We were only holding cameras and sought comment from an aggressive bailiff – Tebo.
The video, by YouTube.com/StormCloudsGathering, speaks candidly and persuasively at its intended audience: individuals who work in police or the military.
Should NH courts be open and accessible or will they remain censored?
Censorship, even if done for the best of intentions, subsumes the initiation of force – something experienced by individuals seeking transparency at Keene district court and Cheshire Co. superior court. On Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at the NH supreme court the “rules committee” took comment to determine whether they will “allow” you and me to film their actions.
Despite using different arguments and rationale, every commenter advocated for increased openness. A couple even mentioned how bad things can get when that is lacking. The “committee” seemed receptive. But even if they “rule” on the side of secret proceedings, their text on paper can only usurp your rights if you allow it so.
Below is a video Ademo published yesterday, featuring a not-so friendly public official. Are you happy you pay for such actions?
In late June Ademo was caged and charged with “improper influence” after he politely asked Ed Burke a few questions (about the unjust arrest of Beau Davis):
Shortly after Ademo’s arrest Derrick J. Freeman was arrested:
Last week several folks from New Hampshire attended an open meeting at the NH Supreme Court. The meeting was in reference to camera bans that were put in place (or enforced) after my encounter with ‘judge’ Ed Burke. Several folks were determined to film regardless of policy and were expecting to be jailed. At first there were some problems, some claimed there was a court order banning filming – yet none was produced – and Dennis (seen in the video above) was trying to intimidate folks gathered in the lobby for whatever reasons.
At the end of it all the cameras, all of them, were allowed into the committee hearing and folks were able to speak their mind about the importance of transparency, as seen in the video below by Pete Eyre – also of CopBlock.org.
On Tuesday, December 13th, 2011, a number of individuals visited Monadnock High School in Swanzey, NH (just south of Keene) to do some outreach. While the students were receptive, it was a different story entirely for the just-following-the-rules public officials.
Two individuals are planning to carry firearms onto a Plymouth State University this Friday – December 9th, 2011 – which may be illegal. One of those individuals is Brad Jardis, a former NH police officer, and the other is Tommy, former military. Brad and I met a few years ago, he even blogged at CopBlock for a short time (come back Brad!), so I was excited to sit down with him and get the scoop on this story.
As you’ll see (or seen) in the video above, Brad states that universities have been telling students, guest and parents that it’s against the Universities rules for people to carry firearms on university property. Yet, New Hampshire law states that no political sub party can make such a regulations in regards to certain things, including guns (read more at FreeKeene.com)
So this Friday Brad and Tommy will be walking around Plymouth State University handing out educational material with rifles strapped to their backs. Brad hopes they’ll educate people about their right to bear arms and no one will be arrested. Though he’s not only willing to go to jail over this, Brad has vowed to take the case as far as he can go if arrested Friday. CopBlock.org cameras – myself included – will be on hand.

On Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia sent out a press release stating that the Occupiers have 48 hours to evacuate their encampment. This is not the first time. Notices like this one have been put out in the past weeks, but police refused to enforce the evictions. I went down to Philadelphia to ask the cops what they will do.
On Sunday, Nov. 27, I interviewed several cops who told me that they would not knock over tents or seize people’s personal property. They mentioned to me that a similar eviction notice came last week and went without reaction from police. They assured me that they are keeping the status quo, and that I can allay my fears that free people would be aggressed upon.
People from the Occupation held a meeting hours before eviction hour and decided that some would stay, some would go. The popular “Truth, Freedom, Prosperity Warming Station” dismantled, but 75 other tents remained committed to standing their ground.
I left satisfied because the hour of eviction had come and gone, and the police had initiated no violence. I applauded their respect for sovereign individuals onFreeTalkLive last night and recommended more police emulate them. Then I woke up today to learn that right after I complimented their behavior, Philadelphia police made 50 arrests, ransacked tents, and seized private property.
For shame, Philadelphia police, for shame. Your badge doesn’t grant you extra rights, and it is never okay to initiate aggression. Stop hurting peaceful people.
