CopBlock.org’s Improved Look and New Features

Yep, this is CopBlock.org and no we haven’t sold out. We’re still the same old decentralized website dedicated to educating folks about the reality of policing today.  But before we get to the improvements a special thanks to Blake Imeson, Clayton Gee and Pete Eyre for all spending the day with me revamping the site. Especially Blake, with his mad skills, for donating his talent and time to help us yet again (seriously, if you want it done right click here).

So to the goodies.

Our first goal, as we’re still cleaning up dust, was to provide a smoother, cleaner interaction while increasing the amount of content available to you. We’ve done that by adding the slider for our featured post, double navigation bars for browsing, new Twitter (pro) app which includes Injustice Everywhere and a recent videos section for CB.org’s YouTube channel.

The second goal of the makeover was to install a CopBlock.org Forum, which Pete took the lead on. We’re confident that participation will take care of its needs, considering many of you suggested this feature via our FB page (thank you), but for now CB.org contributor Rob will moderate the forum along with the other contributors (please be patient as we figure out the process). For now, enjoy conversation in such forums as strategy & tactics, police encounters and connecting yourself with other CopBlockers across the globe. Please visit the suggestion forum as well, we’ve love to hear your feedback on the site.

I’d like to thank all the CopBlock.org contributors, readers, critics and police who make this site possible. It’s amazing what CB.org has become with nothing more than spontaneous order. We’re looking forward to our continued growth and are looking to you to be a part of it. All we need are video cameras and a network and we’ll end the monopoly on protection. Keep those cameras rolling, free keene.

Cop Block launches “The War on Cameras: An Interactive Map”

Most Cop Block readers are probably familiar with the “Botched Paramilitary Police Raids” map project by the Cato Institute which tracks botched SWAT raids on an interactive Google map. Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been working on a similar project which aims to track government hostility to cameras. You can check out the project page here.

CopBlock.org Advertises with Liberty On Tour

I know that some people, like my mom, might have noticed that I’ve taken a step back from CopBlock.org during the last few weeks.  This is due to Pete and I gearing up to launch our newest project, Liberty On Tour  which is a project that will take us through most of the lower 48 states, across 7,500 miles and to the forefront of the liberty movement.  We’ve been really excited over the last few weeks taking on advertisers but still had one missing, Cop Block.

Which is why I’m happy to announce that Cop Block’s own Paula Parmeley Carter has made the opportunity for Cop Block to advertise possible. Here is the post on Liberty On Tour announcing CopBlock.org:

KEENE, NH - CopBlock.org (CB) a pro police accountability website that focuses on showing others how to use a camera to hold LEO’s accountable has joined Liberty On Tour.  Cop Block covers just about anything police related from beatings, cops behaving badly, the double standard within police and more.  We also take pride in filming police officers performing their duty.  CopBlock.org wouldn’t have been part of Liberty On Tour without covering some of the sunk cost.  So Pete and I offered up a discounted price and  Justin & Paula Parmeley Carter (Paula is one of CB’s newest additions) donated the remaining $100.

Thanks to Justin and Paula MARV will have a  sweet Cop Block logo on him.  Since I started CopBlock.org and Pete was one of our earliest contributors this clearly excites us and we look forward to mixing in come Cop Blocks while on the road.

Can We Get CopBlock.org on Liberty On Tour?

Pete Eyre and I (Adam Mueller), both contributors to this website, are going on the road again.  Our first journey on the road was MotorhomeDiaries.com: The Search for Freedom in America which was a great success.  That’s why we’ve spent the last month planning the route, expenses and more for our new project: Liberty On Tour (LOT).  Please watch the video below to learn more about LOT’s mission.

As seen in the video, we’re asking organizations and businesses to come on board to cover the cost.  As much as Pete and I would love to bring Cop Block on board, we can’t afford to do so personally which is why we need your help.

There is no doubt in my mind that Liberty On Tour will get more eyes on CopBlock.org.  But we need to cover the expenses allocated for the graphic, gas, fliers and more.  If you’d like to see CopBlock.org be an official sponsor of Liberty On Tour, please email us at libertyontour[at]gmail[dot]com and let us know if you can assist us.  Thanks in advance and to all of those who helped make Cop Block what it is today.  Let’s keep it up.

Greetings from Mark McCoy

I want to post a brief hello and tell Cop Block readers a little about myself.

I became aware of Cop Block through Facebook and upon reading and investigating I recognized that there was something about this group which distinguished it from other cop sites. Besides documenting the abuse meted out by a standing army of domestic terrorists, the founders of Cop Block take their message to the streets, damn the consequences. What particularly endeared me to this approach was the philosophy upon which it was administered, viz, peaceful and disobedient.

I am, and have been, a student of philosophy and law. I hail from the Natural Rights tradition posited by the Stoics and furthered by such men as John Locke and Thomas Paine. Virtually everything laid before us since birth finds its origin with the thoughts of other men who, for whatever reason, devised such ideas from circumstances applicable to their lives and the times in which they lived. They are not encumbrances to be passed on to future generations since each generation experiences different circumstances and has differing needs. It is either laziness or insanity to accept any system of control on its face on the basis that it has always been so.

My goal has been to chip away at those systems, exposing the flawed foundations upon which they are supported and identify the mechanisms by which the State extracts the wealth and sweat equity of the masses to perpetuate the Oligarchy. I do not rely upon legal distinctions to support or validate my arguments, but use them as illustrations to reveal the hypocrisy before us. The only true source of law resides within each of us. It is called the conscience.

Having taken the theory of self-governance, consent, Natural Rights as distinguished from prescriptive rights, I reconciled the disparity of born free, yet living as governed, by dissolving my connection with the State. I put this philosophy into daily application. Some call it civil disobedience, but I differ on one point. That is, the commands are not civil and it is not disobedience to not submit to a law which does not exist, justly. Civil disobedience is the act of not complying with a law which one finds immoral or unjust. We do not have laws, we have rules of occupation. Laws are intended to protect individual liberties. The rules are designed to maximize human output for supporting the State and its corporate benefactors. The police are the boots on the ground for that system, maximizing compliance and suppressing rebellion.

I look forward to contributing to the efforts of Cop Block and hope many find value in my posts. I don’t have the answers, but what is more important is the awareness of the question.

Hello.

Mark McCoy

The Cop Block Team Needs a Few Good Individuals!

The Cop Block Team Needs a Few Good Individuals!

fuck police brutality The Cop Block Team Needs a Few Good Individuals!Cop Block has been around for a scant four months and in that time we’ve been fortunate to assemble a kickass team of contributors that aren’t just principled and effective communicators but are good people I’m happy to call friends. Each of us brings different skills and writing styles to the table but we’re all united by Cop Block’s stated mission, “pro-police accountability, education of individual rights and the sharing of effective tactics to utilize while filming police.”

In just the past few weeks Brett Perry (who also blogs at the Examiner), Nick Puglia (formerly active with the then-principled Bureaucrash and current co-editor of Fr33Agents) and Brad Jardis (former peace officer in New Hampshire and member of LEAP and current contributor to FreeKeene.com) stepped-up and joined us, further bolstering Cop Block’s reach.

But we’re not content. We know we can have an even great impact if we continue our growth by adding a few more bloggers to the team. The commitment we’re looking for isn’t too time-consuming, just a post every week or two. If this sounds appealing send an email to: “copblock[at]gmail.com” with “Blogger” in the subject line and let us know:

  • A bit about your background
  • Why you’d like to blog at CopBlock.org
  • Links to any other sites that give an idea of your writing style and tone (e.g. pieces written elsewhere, your blog, specific notes on your Facebook profile, etc.)

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Can You Assist Cop Block in Expanding Our Website/Reach?

I recently blogged about changes that happened here at CopBlock.org.  Those changes were possible largely because of donated time by Mike Gogulski and myself, more so on his part.  I’d like to retain Mike’s services to expand the website to the needs of our bloggers and supporters.

Though Cop Block has plans to launch T-shirts sales soon, those aren’t enough to fill our needs for web support/design at this time.  Due to the first two or so rounds of T-shirts having to go to Cop Block supporters personal investments in launching this project and to buy following rounds of shirts.

Which is why Cop Block is asking for your help.  Mike is offering us a great rate, $150 per month, to be our webmaster.  He’ll help us complete the makeover which includes, new colors, tighter layout, troubleshooting, proper feed management and more.  He’ll also set us up with the latest widgets, apps, expansion and top grade set up for Cop Block’s web needs.  I’ve worked with Mike on other projects and am vouching for his work.  This would be a great addition for Cop Block and really put us in a spot to expand and grow to the best police accountability/educational website out there.

If you like Cop Block and would like to see us continue our growth please consider helping us retain Mike to complete the makeover process quicker, until Cop Block’s T-shirts and hopefully advertising take hold.  At which time we hope those sales and advertising will be enough to cover this cost.

You can donate directly to Mike by clicking on the Chip-in widget below.
