Copblockin’ to Robert Parker’s Barefootin’

Our friend Richard Onley wrote the lyrics below to Copblockin’, which he set to to Robert Parker’s 1966 hit, Barefootin’. Click the play button and read (or sing!) along.

(Robert is also the writer behind the songs used by the Shire Choir)

Charge up your cameras and radios!
There’re law-breaking lawmen to expose.
It’s up to us to see something’s done
About vengeance, a badge, and a gun.

We’re CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’.

Give policemen a careful look.
Make sure everything’s by the book.
Line them up in your vidcam’s sights–
Badges don’t grant them extra rights.

We’re CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’.

Stopped a beat-down–was that cop pissed!
Put his hands up and yelled “De-sist!”
We backed off in no big hurry,
Saying, “If you’ve done nothing wrong, don’t worry.”

We’re CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’.
Everybody be CopBlockin’–Qik to YouTube!

Caught red-handed, the bad cops cry,
“Interference!” or some such lie.
Just get used to one simple fact:
We’ll be CopBlockin’ till you clean up your act!

We’re CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’.
We’re CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’.
We’re CopBlockin’. CopBlockin’. No more corruption! CopBlockin’.
