On Dec, 23rd 2014 Ross Flynn allegedly got into a dispute with his neighbor over a parking space. There are conflicting reports on whether Flynn used a firearm or not to threaten the neighbor, but what’s not disputed is the treatment he received by two Las Cruces (NM) Police officers, as seen in the video below.
The video clearly shows Las Cruces police officers – Danny Salcido and Richard Garcia – rushing into Flynn’s holding cell and attacking him. The Lahann Law Firm representing Flynn say that Salcido and Garcia beat their client so badly he sustained multiple injuries including a fractured skull, a brain hemorrhage, broken ribs and multiple contusions. Flynn’s attorneys filed a 12 million dollar lawsuit on Thursday (March 6th) against the city and several officers involved. The following day Larry Lahann was with his client in court to modify the bail condition and said, “We will fight these charges and are confident he will be cleared.”
Merely filing the lawsuit before the charges against Flynn are settled is a clear indication that the case against Las Cruces City and Police employees is strong. It’s uncommon that civil suits are filed before state charges are settled, especially since Flynn faces some felonies for the possible weapons charge. Of course, both officers are sitting behind a desk, pending an investigation from their colleagues. I can only wonder what lame duck excuse the investigators will come up with to justify the actions of these two? Maybe something along the lines of, “Due to the subject’s repeated kicks to the iron bars, the officers had no choice but to fracture his skull.”
Don’t laugh, it could be that bad, when really it should be Salcido and Garcia who are kicking at iron bars.
