The Two Minute CopBlock Featuring Cop Block Hernando

On September 1st, 2014, Michael Mathieu was stopped by a police officer while on his way to pick up his friend, who was also being hassled by the police for being outside after dark. Seriously, I can’t make this stuff up. Obviously the friend that called Michael for assistance knew he was able to handle himself with the police and this interaction would be no different. The passenger records the interaction between Michael and the officer which ends quickly with a CopBlock, see for yourself.

TWO MINUTE COPBLOCK

It appears to me that this officer was on a textbook fishing expedition from the start. For those who haven’t heard the term “fishing expedition” in regards to police, it’s where the police use a lame excuse to stop you. During that stop, they attempt to find something else, the smell of alcohol or weed, to further the stop with hopes of getting something more serious on you to charge you with. As you may have noticed, it didn’t go that way because Michael knew the importance of answering questions with questions and the power of the video camera. Instead, the officer was left with no choice, but to cut him loose.

This is not the first time Michael has filmed the police, nor is it the first time he’s been blogged about at CopBlock.org. A little over a week ago, CopBlock.org Contributor, DEO, posted about him “Flipping Off Cops.” In that post, Michael was issued a no trespassing order for flipping off a cop inside a gas station. After checking out his YouTube Channel I found a few more videos of him, and his friends, in action. In the first video, posted below, Michael and his friends are stopped by police who are ‘assisting’ another agency in a robbery – yet, the cops are just rude during the interaction. In the second video, Michael seems to have caught two undercover cops, who take special interest in his filming.

Cops Hate Cameras

Though some might say that Michael and his friends are obnoxious punks who look for trouble, I’d say that his actions were reasonable for each video. In the “Two Minute CopBlock” Michael answers questions with questions, remains calm and ends the interaction quickly. In the “Flex Your Rights” video everyone in the car is a bit worked up, but the situation was raised to that level by the police, IMO. Michael and his friends are having their rights violated, while the cops are passive aggressive about it, so it’s understandable that everyone is on edge. In the “Cops Hate Cameras” video, Michael simply gets the footage he desires, declines to speak with the officers, and moves on politely.

All of these videos are great examples of how to film the police and I applaud Michael for his professionalism while ensuring that “Badges Don’t Grant Extra Rights.” Visit the CopBlock.org Resources page to expand your knowledge, get CopBlock material, connect with a local CopBlock group and much, much more.

  • Common Sense

Yawn, way to fight against tyranny and oppression.

After a few arrests and paying some fines, he’ll grow out of it and stick with making fenders and bumpers for my truck. Live free son, live free.

  • mioman

wonder what would have happen if the camera wasnt rolling

  • Dimitri Theodosakis

They murder him in Coldblood like Michael Brown Eric Garner

  • JC

More copblock BS. Typical trying to get in a confrontation with the officers. Too bad McDonalds doesn’t do background checks. You clowns would be out a job.

By the way. There is no scientific data that says you are 8x more likely to be killed by police then terrorists. Just typical copblock bullshit.

  • keepitreal

There’s being an activist, then there’s being a complete douchebag for no real reason.

  • WD!

they were trying to get in a confrontation by being pulled over? Hmmm

  • WD!

Oh man , fenders and bumpers! You are absolutely hilarious……..ly retarded.

  • Yankeefan

The Jewish Daily Forward noted in May that – even including the people killed in the Boston bombing – you are more likely to be killed by a toddler than a terrorist. And see these statistics from CNN.

    We noted in 2011:

    – You are 17,600 times more likely to die from heart disease than from a terrorist attack

    – You are 12,571 times more likely to die from cancer than from a terrorist attack

    — You are 11,000 times more likely to die in an airplane accident than from a terrorist plot involving an airplane

    — You are 1048 times more likely to die from a car accident than from a terrorist attack

–You are 404 times more likely to die in a fall than from a terrorist attack

    — You are 87 times more likely to drown than die in a terrorist attack

    – You are 13 times more likely to die in a railway accident than from a terrorist attack

–You are 12 times more likely to die from accidental suffocation in bed than from a terrorist attack

–You are 9 times more likely to choke to death on your own vomit than die in a terrorist attack

–You are 8 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than by a terrorist

–You are 8 times more likely to die from accidental electrocution than from a terrorist attack

    – You are 6 times more likely to die from hot weather than from a terrorist attack

  • IP attorney

What police dept do you work for? Ever heard of “Norrmalmstorgssyndromet”?

  • IP attorney

Great. How do you fight against tyranny and oppression?

“After a few arrests and paying some fines” – Hey “common sense”, there’s a dichotomy if I ever heard one, it is the legislation who write laws and until what he is doing is NOT made illegal by STATUTE, you can’t legally arrest him, nor will he pay any fines. If you do arrest him anyways, you are engaging in false arrest and that is essentially “kidnapping”. You F*&^%#$ low-life, dumb-ass, scum cop

  • Macorichi

and then there’s being a sheep, which category do you fall under?

  • Macorichi

Lmao JC strikes again with spewing shit from mouth. Sorry but the cops are the ones who consistently escalate situations. You don’t like the disrespect? Try earning respect. Maybe police should take a lesson or be taught how to treat another human being, or have you all been so consumed by the power we the people provide you with that you feel you’re above everyone else?

  • JC

Maybe copblockers shouldn’t be intentionally breaking the law and then point the finger at everyone else.

  • JC

There is nothing scientific about those statements.

  • keepitreal

I fall into the category of those who know that acting like a little dickhead for no real reason isn’t going to change anything that this site works against. If anything, it drives even more cops to do fucked up shit. For example, I wouldn’t want to be any of these morons if those cops ever catch them with no working cameras and nobody else around. Gonna get jacked up bad. And for what? Getting to be a little prick on video and thinking you’re cool? Not much of a trade off in my opinion.

  • keepitreal

Simple math, douche pickle. Of course a serial farm animal molester such as yourself probably doesn’t have the requisite skills to even know what to look at or compare, much less derive any kind of statistical correlations from that data.

  • keepitreal

Statistical data correlation, goat ass muncher. Which part is it that’s not “scientific”?

  • keepitreal

There are lots of videos of people understanding and excersizing their rights without being purposefully antagonistic.

  • tz1

So why didn’t he shout multiple times F*** Cops! right in his face and flip him off and he and his passengers be “obnoxious punks” during this interaction?

Though some might say that Michael and his friends are obnoxious punks
who look for trouble, I’d say that his actions were reasonable for each
video. In the “Two Minute CopBlock” Michael answers questions with questions, remains calm and ends the interaction quickly.

This video shows the proper way to do things. He is to the point, maybe even polite but doesn’t take any evasion.

There is a spectrum: assertive, aggressive, asshole. This was on the left side of the continuum.

  • Macorichi

Don’t see any breaking the law here, but I see babies in suits with doughtnut bellies filming a citizen like he cares lol. You’re pathetic

  • Macorichi

the part where he can still lick cop asshole without getting too much shit on his nose

  • Macorichi

You’re a moron, this attitude is the exact reason that cops get away with this shit. You hold certain rights above others, when all rights are equal. You either have the right or you don’t. It’s not about making a video, maybe if you were more mature you’d see that. It’s about the message, it’s about showing the world how out of control it is. It’s funny how when a civilian antagonizes a cop it’s the worst ever and hes being a douche bag, yet when cops harass citizens or violate their rights, they’re just “doing their job”. Maybe you should think a little before you speak and look at everything from multiple perspectives. You wouldn’t like it if a cop came by and told you to be quite or get arrested any more than you would a cop telling you to move along or get arrested. Guess what, if you’re in a public place you have the right to not obey either command, and one does not hold more weight than the other.
