NYPD Requests 450 More Cops For Counterterrorism

NYPD Counterterrorism

As if the War on Terror wasn’t terrifying enough, thrusting our military into an unjustifiable war that cannot be won, now the NYPD is milking the manufactured fear to justify adding more officers to their department. The request for 450 more cops for ‘counterterrorism’ purposes by NYPD Commissioner William Bratton seems more like a ploy to artificially inflate a public service industry that has fallen below the standards of many of the citizens it serves. According to Newsday:

NYPD Commissioner William Bratton said Sunday that he’s seeking funding for 450 additional police officers for counterterrorism efforts — a midpoint between Mayor Bill de Blasio’s proposal of zero new cops and the City Council’s request for 1,000 in the city budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

banner420The officers would be put immediately to work addressing new threats to the city from the Islamic State, Bratton said in a radio interview with host John Catsimatidis on AM 970.

Bratton cited a “significantly increased threat from ISIS using social media to recruit people not only to go to Syria to fight, but encouraging people — whatever country they live in — to attack police, to attack government officials.”

“I’m going to put another 450 police officers — if we get the approval to increase the size of the police force, and I need to do it very very quickly — into our counterterrorism operations,” the city’s top cop said on “The Cats Roundtable.”

When in the middle of an ongoing ‘War on Terror’, police involvement in counterterroism does nothing to dispel the fears nationwide that our police have become militarized. If that sounds far fetched consider that the NYPD operates a counterterrorism unit in Israel, or that the NYPD have been trained in tactics by Israeli counterterrorism units. Meanwhile the police kill more American citizens than terrorists by several magnitude. When the police have become the terrorists and yet ask for more resources to fight the War on Terror, then what exactly does that make U.S. citizens?

Fucked.

Hi, my name is Trevor. Thanks for reading!

  • Common Sense

..and they are gonna have MRAPs and grenade launchers and rockets, plenty of rockets….

  • JC

Another sorry excuse for an article. There is a real reason those officers are needed. You have no concept about the growing concern about terrorism because you hide behind your computer. The nice thing is they will more than likely get the officers.

  • keepitreal

“by several magnitude”. LOL. Take another bong rip, douche.

  • t

    JSH:
More of your amazing journalistic insight.
If you had a handful,of that and a handful of crap….you’d have 2 handfuls of the exact same thing.

  • t

    CS:
Are the the long awaited MRAP Dodge Chargers…or are this the newer MRAP Ford Interceptors?

  • Yankeefan

And what a sorry excuse to justify more cops. Terrorism! Use rising crime or some other contrived excuse but not terrorism. I know 0 people who have a fear of terrorists.

  • Yankeefan

There was a nice story linked to drudge talking about how the pentagon is going to limit the distribution of military grade gear to local boys unless there is a serious justifiable reason to give them out.

  • Shark

JC t and Common Sense are all the same person. His name is Paul Bowman and he’s a government agent. paid thirty five dollars an hour by a fusion center joint task force disinformation program to post propaganda and disinformation on the copblock website. He was an FBI informant. the FBI agents hired him to troll the website. The parole officer cover story is fake. He works part time teaching exercise class but that doesn’t pay all his bills in Winter Haven. I have been investigating him for almost 1 year now. I have 2 freedom of information packets on him and the fusion center disinformation program and financial reports on him and the checks from the government. was paid 27,880 dollars for trolling the internet in 2014. 36,577 in 2013. He trolls this site and at least a dozen others as part of a government program called Op Net. Op Net considers Cop Block high priority informational risk assessment.

  • Shawn

“As if the War on Terror wasn’t terrifying enough, thrusting our military into an unjustifiable war that cannot be won”

First and foremost, hogwash. First, protecting our people from mad men bent on forcing Islam onto people or kill them easily justifies use of military force. And it is certainly winnable. But the key is to fight the war in their territory, among their people, and at our initiative. Don’t give them the advantage of fighting among ours. Go to them, where collateral damage isn’t against our own.

Personally, I seriously doubt they need more officers. It is just more empire building. Fighting terror has never been so much about manpower or firepower, so much as information.

  • Shawn

Terror is an issue, but this is just empire building. I have yet to see a government agency say, “No thanks, we have enough resources.”

  • Shawn

They seriously need to stop that crap. Very few LE agencies have any need for that kind of equipment. But if they get it, they will make a use for it, even if it is a complete joke. Then they’ll complain about their budget being eaten up keeping the toy mini tank working.

  • BeFree

This is all a bunch of bullshit. Militarizing the police to stop the ISIS forces that the USA funded!! We funded them and now they are going to attack us. This was all orchestrated by our government! FIrst it was Fast and Furious, so if you have a hard time believing that our government would fund ISIS you should reconsider. It’s true. They need the perfect reason to implement martial law here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu3pb7-jdbc

  • Common Sense

    Actually no, we are not.

And actually t and I are paid by the letter, t making $7.25 per letter while I earn only $6.00 but I differed a portion of that into a stock for “Stingray,” “Lenco” (maker of the dreaded Bearcat) and “Taser International” shares. That coupled with a free membership at the county club, free gas at BP (ironic I know) plus numerous false IDs, and I do admit, the rotating “James Bond-like” license plate rotator was an awesome gift to add to my car (Thanks NSA!).

No more red light camera tickets for this guy!

  • Common Sense

Yeah but did you see what they are limiting? It won’t change a thing. Sounds good, the libs/dems love it, but as usual they don’t read the fine print.

  • t

I saw that. I don’t think it’s gonna matter much to very many PDs.
    Most places are
Just getting old crap. The small FD where I live has gotten a few old zodiac boats for lake and river rescue.
My PD has some old Kevlar helmets and SWAT got a few things.
I’m my experimce its Sherrifs Offices that tend to load up.

But all of that is just a distraction. JSH here is just feeding the goofiness of so many that but in to then”mitarization Of the police” when on every visor you see it’s the same things you’ve seen for decades. Officers in uniform and squad cars. SWAT with helmets, rifles and maybe an armored vehicle.

I openly smiled when I read this and one of the big things they stopped is about “tracked” vehicles.
I’ve been a lot of places and trained with a lot of PDs. I have never seen one that has a tracked vehicle. Maybe it’s more of a desert area or serious mountain thing. Insure someone has them somewhere….but it’s not the crap that CB and Alex Jones are trying to sell.
    Unfortunately….@Shawn buys into it.

  • Yankeefan

High calibre weapons, APCs, MRAP, grenade launchers. I was listening to this topic on Sacramento’s top rated show and very pro police and their guest ran down the rules. They also talked about many small time PDs that use APC’s use them including a small PD that mounted a 50 cal on it and named it Peacemaker. Sorry but it’s more than libs that have an issue with American police being indistinguishable from military units. Right now the national sentiment is against the police. There was a yahoo story quoting several police officials who made that point. How they feel rejected by their communities. The military look doesn’t help.

  • keepitreal

Oh, you’re wrong. Just ask t. He is constantly spouting off about how the general public loves the police and want more, much, much more. LOL. Freaking douchebag liar. Shit, just look at any mainstream media story about a cop doing shit wrong. There will be at least a 25 – 1 ratio of people tired of this shit versus the ones defending the cop. And I’m purposefully being conservative with the ratio, as to not overstate things.

  • Shawn

I buy into toys change how they think and act. One of those toys was flashbangs. Because they ‘have’ to use it, they are causing harm when no one even threatened then. That is a military mindset.

So excuse me if I know better than to let cop gather more and better gear from the military.

  • Shawn

“He is constantly spouting off about how the general public loves the police and want more, much, much more. LOL. ”

People may want the concept of police, but still oppose what they are getting from police. It isn’t an either/or issue.

  • Shawn

I buy into the truth that the toys change the thinking and attitude.
Flashbangs for instance. A weapon known to still be dangerous at close range, yet cops still deploy the toy before anyone has threatened them.
Incidental harm is fine under military activity. But it isn’t acceptable among our own.
I’ve seen soldiers criticize its use.

  • t

    CS:
    I should
Go buy “Lenco”. Definitely a growth industry

  • t

    YF:
    I didn’t say PDs didn’t get stuff.
I just said I don’t of anyone with tracked vehicles like those on the list.

But unfortunately….the armor is needed more and more
Ferguson jumps immediately to mind. And there are numerous stories of SWAT deploying an armored vehicle to protect neighbors and for evac.

I’ve read that a Sherifs Dept in…maybe Tennessee/Kentucky has found multiple IEDs along mountains roads.

You say you don’t know of anyone scared of terrorists. I know plenty. I get asked all the time about it…is it safe to travel, to fly, to leave the country, are bridges safe? How many people do you know tha are arming themselves….for that exact reason?

But again….what do you see everyday? On videos on this site? MRAPs? Nope. 50 cal’s mounted on Crown Vic’s? Nope.

Having it available on short notice is a good thing.

    And as for terrorism….
    Look around guy, it’s here
Remember how I’ve written that you guys are getting played as pawns? How you (not your specifically) are fighting to make so the police can’t even watch you as you and your friends walk around heavily armed? You guys so desperately want us to wait until after something has happened to deal with things…and then bitch because we allowed it to happen.
Just watch….it’s here and going to get much worse.

  • t

    liar guy:
A small town near where I live….a very nice suburb…just got a bunch of new positions MID BUDGET YEAR. Citizens screaming at the council for more cops.

Look up any growing town of city. As that growth comes…citizens scrambling for more cops…not less

What YF was taking about is a perception.
I will very quickly agree that the old ways that the criminal justice system has worked look very antiquated in this modern age.

I don’t know the answers. Doing a thorough investigation
vs the mob rule video bite.
Maybe that is the new era way…trial by media and screw a fair trial. For a large part…that what we have now. The first story to be told is what is believed….regardless of the truth. Again, Ferguson jumps to mind. Look at what happen after that lie.

But we could also point to a lot of recent cases to show your view isn’t correct. Look at Kelly Thomas, Michael Brown, Eric Garner. Those aren’t cops on those juries.

  • t

    Shawn:
Now that really is just a media perception.
It’s a “hot topic” now and it sells. And you buy.

  • Shawn

In other words, anyone who doesn’t see things your way is automatically wrong.

You’re so wrapped in the blue colored world view, you think that is all there is. I’ll reminded you that even another cop here had called you out on it.

  • Yankeefan

    To go in reverse:

I do not know any event flavoring for more police and nor do I know anyone that is scared of terrorists, to fly and etc. I do not know Nyone who sits around waiting for cops and most reasonable people do not blame cops for every little thing. We blame you guys when we see wrong doing. Unfortunately when you live in a world where you get to decide everything, sometimes you miss the obvious. People bitch about bad cops. Nothing infuriates me and my friends more than watching bad cops. We don’t get mad when you do what, we as a community, expect you to do.

As to guns, welcome to America. It is a gun country and it isn’t changing. How you view people who carry it have lots of guns is on you. I heard the statistic that 99% of legal gun carriers do it right and do not break the law but I M afraid you and your cops friends view all of us that may carry as potential criminals or suspects or terrorists. Hell, that is the most oft use line. Walk up and detain someone filming something in public. He may be a terrorist.

There is a big difference between the cops watching the people and the people watching the cops. Even you should understand that contextual application. When olive go to far you have a police state. We discussed the use of stingray. No damn oversight at all. Go give me any in history where police acting unilaterally was good for the people. It never is. Watch us but do it constitutionally without lying or misleading the check to your activities.

You mention ferguson and others. I agree but those are not the norm and when the norm is going on, put your weapons like that away. I am glad you mention feelrguson and let’s use Baltimore as well. 2 PD’s that are disasters. One thing the DOJ investigation revealed about the sheep dogs in ferguson was how they were part of the poaching of the people there. Go look at the numbers of warrants that were issued compared to the Boston court system. It was nothing but a money scheme. The Baltimore PD inciting a DOJ review.cnothjng but a whole lot of doing it wrong. 40% sustained rate on complaints and bad demeanor should get you fired just like it would a waitress at IHOP. Act like an ass, get fired. When a cop does it, it has legal consequences for the citizens.

I do agree that idiots that OC to show are not helping anyone and we have real threats but my attitude is this. If I have to call you to save my ass, I am screwed already. This goes back to community policing where police and citizens need to work together because we play. Significant role in crime fighting but it take 2. And so far, you guys (CS) have played this fame of it giving a crap what we citizens thnk of your policing. Maybe that’s why people have become cold to police these days. I get it it hard and a. Balancing act but we need to stop the nonsense of believing it is all damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Because it’s not.

  • Yankeefan

My mistake. Only tracked vehicles are prohibited.

  • t

    YF:
To be short…I’ll quote you one time:

    “Not the norm”

As for the terror fears…..maybe you’re just not in a position to be asked the questions. I get them all the time…and lots of it is from various groups of people”.

  • micksavage

Sez who, warmonger? More people die from lighting strikes in US than those scary tuuururursts killed. Half a million die of being fat – let’s have a war on fat and drone those fat extremists. Go crawl back under your crib and change your diapers – come out when you grow up…

  • t

    Shawn:
    No, not wrong. Misinformed.
You’re like all of the CBers, a products of the media….and you just don’t get that they are marketing to you.

Just watch you local, news for a couple of days. The first 3-5 stories almost every night…all police related. We are good for ratings. And if there is an OIS….of my they love it.

And then you come to a site like this….that just lie straight to your face almost all the time.
Ever wonder why they have to,tell, you what you’re seeing? It’s because it’s not there.

But you believe. As Journey sang…..keep,on beleivin’

  • Yankeefan

Please quote me. West Hollywood shoot out not the norm. The Waco bar shootout not the norm. Every thing has its place and people are turned off by the sight of civilian enforcement looking like delta operators. When I took my trip to New York, there was a cop with an M4 about 30 feet up on the steps to the Capitol. He used to be right I your face as you exited the busses but people complained about that. They want that but not in their faces.

As far as terrorism, I work in a federal bldg and it is not a concern. I see DHS cops daily, I see Sacramento PD along with the Sacramento county sheriff and they focus on the criminal elements on the light rail. Not terrorism issues. If that’s what you deal with, ok. But that’s not a remote concern for the people I know, which includes cops I see on a regular basis.

  • t

    YF:
    But again…”not the norm”
This site proves it over and over again. Uniformed guys driving simple marked cars.

  • keepitreal

You’re an idiot. It was the State Police in West Virginia, and they found them because the tweaker carrying them rolled his SUV. And you’re so connected, why don’t you find out what the “IED’s” were made out of.

  • keepitreal

Dude, I work in and around facilities called “JHOCs” every day. Joint Harbor Operations Center. Local cops, DHS, ICE, FBI, and who knows what other agencies are represented. They laugh their asses off over the thought of “terrorists” attacking the ports. But it doesn’t stop them from spending all of the federal cash that flows in.

  • keepitreal

Yeah, keep up with the liar guy bullshit. Just proves you to be the liar every time you do, douchebag. LOL. Like I said, having you call me a liar is like a badge of freaking honor. Pretty much guarantees that I’m not one.

  • keepitreal

You are so full of shit it’s freaking laughable. First 3-5 stories almost every night, huh? LOLOLOLOL. Douche-fucking-bag.

  • keepitreal

If you say that what people want is less crime, I’ll agree. More police? Not a chance, as more and more are coming to realize that cops are no better or worse than any other segment of the population.

  • beware mouse

they want 450 more cops? to fight against 71 terrorist? wow lets just send the cops home and take care of it ourselves.. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, GOT GUNS?

  • beware mouse

right.. they have no LEO training, at all… not even heard the rummer we live in a republic… so no HS diploma either.. BUT YOUR WRONG, you see they are the biggest supporters of CB! they have taken the other side exposing just how stupid the claims are made by the cops.. without them we would not have such a contrasting view as to see how stupid it really is.. they have sacrificed their integrity to better the cause not harm it… you have to understand.. they dont believe a word of it themselves … he really needs to get the CBer of the year award for their constantly pointing the absurd

  • beware mouse

I LOVE YOU GUYS.. 450 cops to chase down what may be just 1 terrorist in the whole city… and you make it sound so ligit (or try too) keep up the good work.. everyone can see what a fine job your doing pointing out the absurd…..71 terrorist in the whole country and running around in a town with no guns.. wow 450 more cops needed.. great job man

  • beware mouse

and the toy donkeys dont forget they come equipped with the finest anti terrorist counter electronics package.. we are currently training vicious rabbits to replace police dogs.. dogs become unreliable when confronted by a slab of meat.. great job man keep it up

  • beware mouse

71 terrorists confirmed in the us.. release 450 more cops in a city with no guns to protect its self.. yes your right

awesome, you point out Ferguson great job they used MRAPs there and just this week said it was ok.. meaning it was not at the time of Ferguson.. man your right on it this time.. keep up the great work would would not seem anywhere legit without you pointing out the absurd all the time THX again good point

  • beware mouse

yep without brainwashing from the media we would not have much to fear at all.. good point.. 71 terrorists and 450 cops need to combat it.. we are not americants. we are AMERICANS

  • beware mouse

good point take away the guns and we need more cops.. lets start cutting the budets now we know what the cause is.. ANOTHER SCORE FOR “T”

  • beware mouse

SAYS IT OUTRIGHT media perception not the public.. the public is waking up to the deceptions and corruption.. you help alot proving the twisted agenda .. keep up the good work

  • beware mouse

again with pointing out the CBers dont fall for the media agenda.. like how obama care will save you money and other such clear lies

  • beware mouse

but the nukes they have now are 20 years old what if they need to clean off a few towns to catch and kill a terrorist? sorry if i seem out of sorts but i thought i would help T point out the absurd as well took me along time to figure him out always 180′ from right thinking. now i understand i guess i will help with what i can

  • beware mouse

i just have trouble unlearning things.. not being ignorant and pretending i am i guess i will leave up to “t”

  • t

    liar guy:
First off….that’s you that claims to have all the insider contacts…not me
(Guess that’d be what you call a “lie”)

    Second….
I did call one of my
contacts. Which in this case was just an LEO that I know that told me about it. And the incidents I was writing of happened in the North Carolina mountains.

On a lark though….I googled your source. It’s a news story about a wreck.

So it seems like you lie…and then on top of that you make stuff up.

  • t

    Wow
Then you should have many suits of armor with all the ridiculous and needless lies you tell.

  • JC

It only took two terrorists in Boston to kill people with home made bombs at the Boston marathon. It took only two terrorists to shut down an entire city. The threats are getting worse. The “71 terrorists” are statements ISIS made. Not the USA.

  • Here we go again, Mayor Bill de Blasio is going to cave to NYPD pressure, and NYC will continue to fade from its prestige as a liberal bastion … as a fellow New Yorker, must share … https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=907298372661767&id=797854870272785

  • Yankeefan

What’s your point? Regardless what it is, I do not know anyone who is afraid of terrorists. In the last 4 weeks, there have been 12 fatalities on the stretch of freeway I commute to light rail. All due to wrong way drivers. That causes me more fear than terrorism ever will. If you have a fear of terrorists, sucks to be you.

  • Yankeefan

Maybe we are cross talking. The norm is marked cars and regular uniforms. I agree.

  • beware mouse

ah LOL right… they were not terrorist but hay you show how the mainstream makes it look like that… next you will say that alex jones was in on it .. thats why he predicted it with boots on the ground just prior and a BOMB drill the same day… but i love you guys i had forgotten that.. keep up the good work now

  • beware mouse

well then i have no point for you at all.. you already get it.. and what really sucks it your right!! but why does this suck? out of the many comments i get your the only one that gave me an example of what to fear. everyone else says all the bs the mainstream says.. so join in the anti extremist club and help .. it wont be the terrorist we need to fear,, soon if we dont…
