Jury Finds Cop Guilty For Using Excessive Force On A Handcuffed Female

Cop Block writer Paula originally posted about this back in Oct. It looks like a Jury just found the officer guilty for assaulting a handcuffed female.

According to the article

A former state trooper was found guilty Friday of using excessive force during an October 2009 traffic stop on the Dallas North Tollway.

Arturo Perez, 43, was convicted of misdemeanor assault in connection with the traffic stop, which was recorded on dash-camera video. The drunken-driving suspect, Megan Fox, had hit a wall near Lemmon Avenue. She was not charged with any crimes.

Misdemeanor court Judge Jane Roden will decide his sentence during a hearing on Thursday. He faces up to a year in the county jail but could receive probation.

UPDATE #2
Officer Perez has been sentenced to 6 months of probation.  The Dallas Morning News reported that Perez shook the hand of his victim, Whitney Fox, and said to her “I’m sorry”.  That was a start, but true justice would be Perez offering Fox monetary restitution to go along with that apology.
