Vancouver Police Cst #2722
Detained teen before being slammed.
I was walking down Granville Street in Vancouver, when I saw a young boy surrounded by police & noticed he was handcuffed. The young boy was having a mental health break down, the police just took advantage of the situation & slammed the young boy into the ground. I later found out the boy was homeless & in cuffs for stealing 2 packs of smokes. It’s normal to witness the Vancouver Police beating up street youth Granville Street. – Laura Jacob

In a 45 second video a teenager is thrown to the ground, and held there by an officer who places his knee into his back. The teen can be heard saying “You can’t force me to do anything”, “Fuck the cops”, “Cops are fucked up”. After they take him down and one of the officers jammed his knee into his back the teen can be heard saying “Fucking Shoot me then, fucking do it”
It turns out he had just been caught stealing 2 packs of cigarettes from a store. Theft is a crime with a victim. I’m not trying to defend this kids actions with my next statements, but lets total up the cost to the owner.
I know a pack of camel filters will run me between $4.50 and $6.00 depending on where I am in the world. That’s a maximum of $12.00 throw in a lighter and we are looking at $15.00 max. I understand wanting to be made whole after someone wrongs you. So why instead of brutalizing the kid don’t they make him return the packs? The kid could even do a couple of hours labor to cover the cost of the cigarettes as well.
Instead a thug throws him on the ground and holds him with his knee. The kid might end up in court, and on some state rehabilitative program like probation or house arrest. He might even go to juvenile hall. All of these punishments do nothing but cost the owner and the rest of the population even more money by forcing all of them to pay for them. At least the example I used had some form of justice for the shop keeper instead of only costing him more money to run him through the state legal system.
The video cut out so I don’t know what if any charges were brought against the teen but if the punishment will be handled by the state I can guarantee that there will be no justice.
