Props to Richard J. Marini, who not only documented claimed double-standards (what would happen if you and a friend stood with rifles in the subway?) but questioned those operating by and peddling fear. Not as good was the response Marini received, which demonstrates just how far some people still have yet to come until they shed their “us vs. them” mentality, which is really a destructive, counter-productive paradigm that only fuels the police state. -Pete
I was in the NYC subway when I came across an NYPD/TSA random bag search. NYPD’s Joint Terrorist Task Force was also in the subway with automatic weapons. I took pictures of them with my phone. One of the officers approached me and said “how would you like it if someone came to your work and took pictures of you.” Another officer (the one on the left) then said “what are you going to do when men come into the subway with rifles and start opening fire.” I said “That’s the wrong question to ask. The question to ask is why would they want to do that.” The officer replied “what you don’t understand is that the Muslim race is growing” (while making a hand gesture of an expanding balloon).
