Florida Deputy Fired After Beating Handcuffed Woman On Video
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in Florida has fired and arrested the officer who was caught on video beating a handcuffed woman. Undersheriff Pat Ivey said in a news conference Thursday that authorities arrested 26-year-old Probationary Patrol Officer Akinyemi Borisade on a battery charge.
Footage released by the sheriff’s office shows Borisade striking 31-year-old Mayra Martinez, who attempted to kick Borisade as she was being restrained and checked into a jail.
According to the press conference, the incident began Wednesday after deputies responded to a dispute at a Jacksonville bar. The victim in the video, Mayra Martinez, was arrested for allegedly trespassing. Ivey says Borisade could have handled the situation differently without striking Martinez.
This is the same corrupt sheriff’s office that continually makes the news for violating the civil rights of others, and sometimes, their own family members.
Back in October, a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested for felony child abuse. Erica Nicole McRae, a 12 year veteran, was arrested for felony charges of abusing her son because he ‘acted up at school’.
Last year, an off-duty officer shot and killed his neighbor’s dog after the dog entered his yard through a three-foot-wide hole in his fence. Sergeant C. Bradley Shivers shot the dog because he claimed it wouldn’t “back down” after he tried to scare it off with a rake.
