Jay Anderson Madison Park Wauwatosa Killing Protest Sneak Peek

Above is a sneak peek to a video documenting a peaceful protest in Milwaukee’s Madison Park. The Anderson family has protested for months attempting to get justice for their son, who was killed by Wauwatosa police. Jay Anderson died three months ago, and WPD hasn’t held a press conference, or released the shooting officer’s name.

During the Madison Park protest, activists and family members distributed fliers outing the shooting officer as Joseph Mensah. The Anderson’s feel his case is currently being swept under the rug. Jay Anderson’s parents recently agreed to an interview with Cop Block writers at their home. Many details were shared which haven’t been published in any other outlet. The contents of this interview will be disseminated via multiple upcoming Cop Block articles.

Here’s a little sneak peek though: The Anderson’s state that video and documents–which are being kept under wraps pending the investigation–show that back up was very slow to arrive during the incident. Once it did, the Anderson’s claim, all the squad cameras belonging to Wauwatosa detectives on the scene turned off simultaneously. This occurs after 20 seconds of footage showing Jay with his hands up were captured.

The Andersons also report harassment and intimation by officers. Linda and Jay Anderson Sr. describe how phones belonging to family members and activists have malfunctioned since protests began. During the most recent protest–held at Mayfair Mall–police reputedly told the Andersons that if they protested vocally, then Mrs. Anderson and  Jay’s fiancé will be arrested first. The Anderson’s also state that every month on the day their son was killed, police cruisers roll up and down their street in the morning when they go to work, and in the evening when they come home.
