Give 5-min to remind a couple of Tampa cops that their initiation of force isn’t cool

The text below comes to us from the recently launched cop-reports.com. Robert Aptheker, who submitted the information about the assault he endured at the hands of two Tampa police officers, is being further victimized as bogus charges are being stacked against him.

Yesterday evening I called Tampa PD and asked for those individuals responsible – Daniel Evers and William Wilson – but was told they don’t start their next shift until tonight, at 7:30pm. The dispatcher with whom I spoke also noted that disciplinary concerns could be directed to Evers supervisor, Sgt. Wilks, who too starts at 7:30pm.

If you have 5-min, get up-to-speed on the incident and give these folks a call. Remind them that their rights-violating actions aren’t going unnoticed. Encourage them to drop the frivolous charges against Aptheker. Thanks in advance. And remember, check out cop-reports.com for incident write-ups from others wronged and if you’re so-inclined, make calls on their behalf. The more good folks support each other the less likely such incidents are to happen. -Pete

Tampa Police Department, District #1, ph. # (813) 354-6600
A police officer brutally attacked me, accompanied by another who nearly choked me to death.
TPD Officer Evers, Daniel – 45304
TPD Officer Wilson, William D.- 45309
This horrible event was witnessed entirely by my wife.
The police officers wrote up reports claiming I assaulted them.
The public defender took pictures of the bruises where I was choked and punched.
The arresting officers have no pictures of any injuries, since I did not touch any of them.
At my arraignment my public defender told me that the prosecutor brought another felony
charge to the list. This was done over two weeks after the arrest.
The Hillsborough County Sheriffs’ Office is intending on putting me in prison for a long time,
for a crime I did not commit.

Officer Daniel Evers brutally attacked assaulted and injured me without provocation. He and his partners had no reason to arrest me, let alone punch me and nearly choke me to death. The officer who strangled me is named William Wilson. Evers spent about 1 hour writing up a totally frivolous arrest report. Vindictive, improper conduct on behalf of all 3 officers, who lied in their statements, all contradicting each other as to the “facts” of the incident. They falsely charged me with two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. I do not have a violent past.
