The 411 on Roanoke, VA Police

This post comes to us from Liz Franklin who has some thoughts to share about those employed at the Roanoke, VA police department:

In November 2009 a lady was busted for prostitution, Nov 011, the police tried to jam the very same lady up by calling her from the exact same number they busted her from in 09. These are detectives with gold shields supposed to be specially trained and are dumber than dirt. Every other jurisdiction in America knows the number is burned after a bust. They know you change the number after pros bust of any kind. Roanoke has no clue. Their training is less than adequate

In November 2011, the police dept was having a terrible time with car break ins, instead of adding patrols, they decided to enter 72 private vehicles and lock them on their own, no search warrant, no probable cause, no permission from owner. They then went and posted their crime on facebook. It has since been removed but I called Internal Affairs and NOTHING was done about it. I was told “it was for the greater good.”

On another occasion there were home burglaries going on throughout the city and RCPD decided to keep it quiet until it reached over 75 homes. If they had alerted the public we could have been better at looking and noticing our surroundings. Maybe even assisted in arrests

This whole dept is a Barney Fife run division. It is a small town but breaking the law is standard for the RCPD. They also have a deal with the media NOT to report on crimes to make Roanoke VA look like Mayberry RFD. Bad for real estate and new business moving into the area.

Thankfully I do travel on biz and it was an Officer Friendly that told me about this site…

These two videos popped-up when I was searching for the contact info for Roanoke PD – I guess Liz isn’t the only person who doesn’t think too highly of this outfit.
