Dave Ridley Calls Out Violence-Advocating “Gun-Cleaners”

This post comes to us from Ian Freeman at FreeKeene.com on June 26th, 2013, who wrote:

Ridley of Ridley Report has posted an incisive commentary where he points out the cowardice of many of the advocates of violence as a solution to the state – many of those advocating violent revolution are too chicken to stop paying taxes! Ridley then digs deeper into history of violent revolution and contrasts their ultimate failure to the success of the peaceful evolution here in the Shire, where we focus on exercising our rights and expanding liberty through political action, media, street theater, and civil disobedience/noncooperation:

In the video Ridley noted, “Should civil fighting break out in the United States, the more it can be delayed the better.”

I totally agree, as that means more time for the ideas of self-ownership to disseminate and for you and I to make real connections with those around us, which makes more likely a scenario where the current coercive criminal organization isn’t just replaced by another coercive criminal organization, but shed entirely in favor of peaceful coexistence that maximizes human flourishing.

Thanks to the built-in perverse incentives, a society founded on the lie that some people have more rights than others can only become more oppressive. The rise and fall of nation-state empires throughout history shows this, as does the situation on the ground now in the States.

Let’s move past the fear, control, division, and slave-on-slave violence inherent in the Statist Quo, to a better reality that does not have two classes of people. To be clear, we need not another revolution, but an evolution.

As Rose Wilder Lane penned 70-years ago in The Discovery of Freedom:

When these revolts succeed, they are called revolutions. But they are revolutions only in the sense that a wheel’s turning is a revolution. An Old World revolution is only a movement around a motionless center; it never breaks out of the circle. Firm in the center is belief in Authority. No more than the Communist or the National Socialist (Nazi) today, has any Old World revolutionist ever questioned that belief; they all take it for granted that some Authority controls individuals.

They replace the priest by a king, the king by an oligarchy, the oligarchs by a despot, the despot by an aristocracy, the aristocrats by a majority, the majority by a tyrant, the tyrant by oligarchs, the oligarchs by aristocrats, the aristocrats by a king, the king by a parliament, the parliament by a dictator, the dictator by a king, the king by—there’s six thousand years of it, in every language.

Every imaginable kind of living Authority has been tried, and is still being tried somewhere on earth now.

Throughout the course of history, those who claim the right to control others have propped-up their artificial constructs through lies, propaganda, and the censoring of information perceived as threatening. The Internet and other technologies that now exists means those hubristic tyrants are being seen for what they are, and their claim to “legitimately” use violence is being rejected.
