A federal jury determined that Hazelwood Missouri Police Officer Todd Greeves was personally liable for violating the guaranteed civil rights of Robertson Fire Protection District Captain David Wilson.
Although jurors stated that prior complaints against Officer Greeves and a documented case of him using excessive force swayed their decision, many worked to limit the amount of damages due to the fact Greeves is also a family man.
The presiding U.S. Magistrate Judge Mary Ann Medler ruled that Greeves had no probable cause to arrest Captain Wilson, thus opening the door for compensatory and punitive damages. At the same time, Medler dismissed charges against the City of Hazelwood, and left Greeves the sole defendant.
