Arrested for Whispering “Asshole”
Ric shared the following post via CopBlock.org’s submit page.
A person we will call Will, had previously accused me of calling the Department of Social Services on a mutual friend. He said it was to “get back at him” because we disagreed on something before that and had a heated discussion. As if I would call DSS on a good friend of mine to get at Will. Totally absurd. Well, he spread lies to everyone about it saying I did it, threatened me on facebook, and sent me threatening texts. I contacted the police and they said they could do nothing about it because I responded to his facebook threats with the sentence, “You are out of your mind, I would never call DSS on Chris.” Because I responded, they could do nothing. Come to find out that it was actually my good friend Chris’ mother-in-law who had called DSS on him. A couple of months passed with no incident.
On August 30, 2013, he came to my house and parked in the road in front of my house, threatening me because the mother of his child contacted me to be a character witness in her child custody case. I told my wife to call the police. Will then left. The police arrived and this was my statement to officer B.R. Lovelace badge #1284: “Officer, my wife and I were just sitting in the living room watching TV and we heard a car door slam and someone yelling. I went outside to see what it was, and this asshole that’s been harassing me…” That’s when the officer interrupted me and warned me that there was a child next door and told me not to curse in front of the child again. I said, “Oops, sorry.” Then I repeated the statement I was giving when I was interrupted by Officer Lovelace and whispered the word “asshole” to the cop. He said, “Put your hands behind your back.” As I complied, I asked “What for?” He said I was being arrested for disorderly conduct.
After I was put in the back of the police car, the second cop on the scene went next door to get the name of the child so they would have a “victim” in the report. My neighbor said, “I didn’t hear him curse and I’m not giving you my child’s name. Ric would give you the shirt off his back and do anything for anyone around here.” My wife was sitting on the porch 20 feet from me and didn’t hear me say the word “asshole” either time. She didn’t know why I was being arrested after calling them to serve and protect US. In a nutshell…I was arrested, cuffed, had a car door slammed on my knee and spent 8 hours in jail for whispering the word “asshole.”
