This is a song my band, Esperanca, wrote and recorded regarding police brutality. The genre is a fusion of rap and heavy rock. We hope to get our message across with our art form: that being music. Although we are taught to feel like cops are there to “serve and protect,” sometimes it becomes an issue of “them against us.” Their abuse of power is unnecessary and only instills fear rather than a sense of security. We hope that this forum will allow our message to be spread, for this forum is what is bringing our voices together. It’s time to take a stand.
