Kidnappers & Accomplices Don Badges of Marion County Sheriff’s Outfit

I live for honesty and integrity. I’m not by any means a hater of police, only police abuse.
– Jace Pomales

In February of 2014 Marion County Cop Block emerged. Jace, one of the founders, wrote in part:

Hello and thank you for being such an awesome family that is willing to stand up for your rights. I have been involved with standing up for my rights with a group called OathKeepers. I am a Marine Corps Veteran who took an oath to defend the constitution against enemies foreign and domestic just like these police officers did. I honor my oath. It’s time that so did all of them.

Two months later – on April 06th – Jace and his wife Stacey were kidnapped by Marion County Sheriff employees Lisa Azure badge #5196, Newbank badge #5715, and Leedy badge #5507 for videotaping their aggression.

After handing over 1,500 federal reserve notes to their captors , the pair was uncaged, but are still being threatened. Jace is said to have ‘resisted and obstructed without violence.’ His wife Stacey has two such claims levied against her.

Once freer, Jace posted a 1500-word overview of the experience, and noted that after brought to the Marion County Sheriff’s Outfit facility, an employee had brought him to an area off camera and told him “There are no cameras here and I will break your fucking arm” before being interrupted by a colleague.

Azure, who seemed so confident of her actions, wrote in her “report” a version of events that differed significantly from that objectively captured on film. Note that in her “report” below she refers to herself as “WRITER”

Police Report from Lisa Azure, Marion County Sheriff’s Outfit

That video, which starts just before Jace was kidnapped, was captured by Stacey, which, along with the text below, was posted to CopBlock.org shortly after the incident thanks to a submission by Amanda Bly who outlined that it was the employees of the Marion County Sheriff’s Outfit present who were and are in the wrong:

Jason Pomales was arrested for attending a house party. Police wrote a false report stating Jason Pomales told party goers not to listen to the officers, and failed to comply when officers asked him to move away. Officers also reported that his wife, Stacey Pomales refused to comply when officers asked her to move away from the vehicle; as you can see in the video, that is not true… The video also shows Mrs. Pomales following everything the officers ask her to do, even calling Officer Azure ma’am.

Initially, Lisa Azure was boisterous of her actions – she even made her profile picture on Facebook the mug shot of Jace and Stacey! But that didn’t last long. She, and her employer, received so much push back from others that she deactivated her Facebook page.

And Fred LaTorre, one of the higher-ups within the Marion County Sheriff’s Outfit, called some of Azure’s verbal conduct “not appropriate.” I’d guess LaTorre would use stronger language and express more concern if the same act (kidnapping) had occurred to someone close to him.

had there not been witnesses and cameras, the lies in the police report would go unchecked and there would never be justice for the wronged and innocent. The Sheriffs Department has tried to embarrass us and ruin our character through media interviews, but we will not be shook. This constitution that I swore to uphold and honor will defend me as I will forever defend it.

The wrongs Jace and Stacey suffered on scene weren’t caused by Lisa Azure alone – her colleagues Newbank and Leedy failed not only to stop her tyrannical tirade but chose to act as accomplices through their verbal threats, attempts to physically intimidate, and actions that initiated force.

Those wrongs were further compounded by others employed by the Marion County “justice system” machine – those involved in the processing, caging, and levying of claims.

Their situation was covered by Photography Is Not a Crime founder Carlos Miller, who accurately noted,

…they arrested Jason Pomales for ‘interfering,’ which was not captured on camera, but judging by their definition of interfering in the rest of the video, we can assume he was not.

Christopher Dillingham II, a criminal and civil rights attorney, has filed motions to dismiss, which will be addressed at a future legaland date.

Jace made clear:

Phone calls are awesome…  Apparently this kind of thing happens too often in this county and its usually swept under the rug. The more people that demand answers, the more they realize they have to answer to the public  as well as their citizens and hopefully that sparks a change in procedure.

The fact people’s rights are violated by others who claim and are granted a double standard is not surprising. Such incidents will continue to happen until allegiance to and faith in those corrupt institutions, which seeks to inculcates our kids into a community where paramilitary police is the norm, is withdrawn.

If you have a moment to make a call to question those who aggressed against Jace and his wife Stacey, and who will continue wrong others if not held to task, that’d be great. Or, feel free to share your thoughts at the Marion County Sherriff’s Outfit’s Facebook Page or Twitter profile, or call into one of the local radio shows when Marion County head honcho Chris Blair co-hosts.

MARION COUNTY SHERIFF’S OUTFIT (Marion Oaks District Office)

Help me in letting people know that Marion County is not above the law and they can not violate rights based on the fact they do not like to be recorded or told they can’t enter private property. Bogus charges do not make what they do legal and we as Cop Blockers will not stand for this type of police brutality. Please write letters, send emails and make phone calls. Let’s let this county know they are not above the law. – Jace

UPDATE

From Don Maines (dmaines@marionso.com), employee of the Marion County Sheriff’s Outfit:

“The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is in receipt of your email sent to Investigator Smith.  We have reviewed this matter thoroughly and as Chief LaTorre has acknowledged, some inappropriate comments were made by our deputies. We have dealt with this matter through additional training of both the deputies on scene and addressed the rest of our patrol division. To that end we are satisfied that this matter has been dealt with and consider it closed.
