I got pulled over for my license plate being burnt out. I gave the cop all the necessary paperwork for the car. He then looked in my backseat with his flashlight. Without saying anything, he tried opening my back driver-side door, but it was locked. “Open the back door,” he said. I asked, “For what?” He kept asking me to open the door and I kept asking for what reason. He refused to tell me why after being asked three times. He told me, “Get out of the car.” I asked, “For what?” again. He then reached his hand into my window and unlocked the car. He pulled me out and told me he smelled weed and that he could see some on my backseat. He then got my two friends who were with me to get out and sit on the curb. I had nothing illegal in my car, so I gave him permission to search it. He didn’t call backup, nor did he radio it in that he was going to search my vehicle. The search came back clean and he said, “It was a french fry, not weed.” Since when does a french fry resemble weed? He then went back to his car and ran our names. Everything came back clean. He did not issue me a ticket nor did he issue me a 10 day warning to get the faulty equipment fixed. He said, “Have a good night,” and that was the end of it. Something needs to change; cops cannot keep treating innocent people like this!
