wrongfully ticketed

I am a trucker and I was headed southbound on I 71 in Mount Gilead, OH. There was a state trooper on the shoulder of the interstate shooting laser and traffic was moderately thick. I was in the right lane behind another semi and we were all running about the same speed. To my left we had several cars passing us and then officer pointed toward the median then at me. I assumed he meant to get over so I hard braked and when the cars were clear, I got over. I proceeded down the interstate and then he came up onto me. Out of safety for myself and the officer, I drove a couple more miles to a rest area and pulled in there. I have signs posted on my truck “beware of dog” to make everyone aware of my dogs and when the officer came over to the truck, the first thing he did was start getting loud with me because I did not pull over right away. I tried to explain the reasoning behind why I pulled into the rest area he didnt want to hear. After yelling at me, he then reached for my door to open it, I locked it before he opened it to save him from being bitten because my dogs were very upset with his tone of voice. He demanded that I open the door, but I told him to let me step out fist and that way he would not get bitten. He started yelling he was going to taser my dogs, but they were in my truck and only barking at him. I then tried to follow him to his car we could hear each other over my barking dogs and he told me to return to my truck or he was going to arrest me and would not listen to me. He accused me of going 78 in a 65. I can say that is impossible to do 78 in the right hand lane at 1621 (rush hour) near Columbus, OH in a semi. With the new DOT regulations, this may cost me my employment. I do not speed, I had a clean driving record for over 9 years with no tickets and now I have to pay a lawyer $450.00 to defend my CDL in order for me to continue my career? They say innocent til proven guilty but it is guilty regardless if you drive a semi because they know usually we cannot make the court days and usually just pay. In the ticket the officer was very “green” he didn’t even fill out the ticket information correctly on several places on the ticket including plate number and he even put the expiration date for my license for 2009. Certainly if you make that kind of errors in your logbook, you will be fined or haz-mat loads with the numbers wrong in an accident situation, you can get some one killed. So you have to be precise with your documentation. I see cops breaking the law all the time out here and I have even seen where cops have caused accidents because of their carelessness. The officer came back to my truck and gave me the ticket and was still trying to justify tasering my dogs….in my truck. If you taser my dogs you will have to taser the owner also.

I also had an incident in North Carolina where 5 juveniles were throwing fire wood off the side of the interstate at cars and trucks. I had a 45,000 lb load of fire extinguishers and when I hit the wood in the road I lost control and almost rolled my truck. I seen the persons of interest and explained it to the 911 operater how many there were, what they were wearing, race, and even that there was one a lot smaller than the other persons involved. The 911 operator said they had several reports of them throwing debris off the interstate and no police were around doing anything. I could have rolled my truck, ran over someone else in the other lane or even ran over the juveniles. When the police got there, they did not want to go pursue the vandals but instead just write the report and it be over with. I told the officers to wait at the car that i would do it myself and they then followed me then thru the trees into the neighborhood where they had fled to. I proceeded to knock on doors and noticed there was a light on in a shed behind a mobile home. The light was turned off when we started walking towards the building. the cop coaxed them all out of the shed and all five of them were wearing exactly what i had described, size, race and they were hiding all together. They lied several times to the officers and even to their mother who did not have a clue where her 10 year old son was on a school night at 2200-2300 at night. I filed a police report and was able to talk to a detective on the case. Several weeks went by and the case went cold. There were no more phone calls from the police so i decided that i take a ride in my personal; vehicle to the incident location. There were three out of 5 of the boys there, they were ranging in ages frorm 10 to 17 and I got the real names form the parents and the addresses of the other two boys involved. The parents said the police had not even made a single phone call or even did a follow up of any kind. So I called the police back and apparently the parents called the police and made them aware that i had paid a visit and they wanted to know why i was down there. The vandals went from being just that to the victims in a split second and the detective said since i was doing all the police work, I did not need there help and said i didn’t have enough evidence to prove and i would have a hard time proving it because there was juveniles involved. So far I have had over $10,000 in repairs because of this incident. All the suspension on my truck (kingpins, bearings, bushings, shocks +labor+ 8 tires and 4 alignments) not to mention some of the debris hit my cooling lines for my heater core in my sleeper and crushed the heater core. Now I do not have a/c or heat in my sleeper til i can afford to get the parts to put it back together. It has been a nightmare and almost cost me my truck and a lot of down time. The police have the moto -to protect and serve, this is not at all the truth. They are tools for localities of the state to make a profit, they are a business POLICE inc.

The picture I posted (No picture was sent with submission) is another incident that happened to another trucker in San Antonio, Tx. The people who shot his truck was on an overpass. The police were called again and wrote a report and told the driver it was probably drug or gang related and once again did nothing…The driver was ok, it appeared to be a large caliber hand gun maybe. The bullet entered into the passengers door and went thru the seat and into the seat were the driver was sitting. The driver pulled the bullet out of the plastic in his seat. The police didn’t even search the area and only filled a report. I thought it illegal for people to shoot or throw debris at interstate commerce. Truckers are the supply line for everything. When you see that trucker in the truck stop, thank him for the sacrifice they do everyday to keep America going.
