20 year old Brandon Ellingson was taken into police custody on a water patrol boat. He was handcuffed behind his back and an improper life jacket was hastily shoved over him. The officer sped off in rough water, at over 40mph, ejecting Brandon from the boat. Upon impact with the water, the life jacket popped off and due to being handcuffed, this poor kid sunk to the bottom (80 feet) of the lake (Lake of the Ozarks).
The video cards to the patrol boat’s three cameras were “missing” that day, so within days, the incident was deemed an accident. Officer Piercy was back to work in a matter of days.
An inquest was conducted, and the only people present were friends and colleagues of the officer. NONE of the eye witnesses were included in the inquest. It took eight minutes for the “jury,” who were all either relatives or friends of this cop, to conclude it was an accident and that Anthony Piercy did no wrong.
