Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s on First?” routine was humorous due to an apparent miscommunication between the pair. A similar incident happened recently in the lobby of Manchester, NH District Court between John Patti and Ademo Freeman, only the miscommunication wasn’t accidental but based on Patti’s hesitancy to answer Freeman’s question.
Why? Patti was aware of the implications – he has an incentive to kidnap, cage and charge others, even if in reality (as in Freeman’s case) they harm no person or property.
Transparency helps hold those accountable who believe that they – after donning a specific costume – have the right to violate the rights of another. Fortunately more people are concluding that badges don’t grant extra rights.
