1900s Vintage North West Mounted Police Cap & Collar Badges & Uniform Buttons:
As worn by my Grand Father-in-law sometime between 1907 and 1910 after which he returned to the UK. We assume that the family photo included with the photos above is of him in North West Mounted Police uniform, on his horse. Horses were his passion and my Dad says he told many tales, including one night lying next to his horse for warmth, waking the next morning to find a snake had had the same idea with him. We have a letter from him to his family written on Hotel Northern (Port Simpson) stationary dated 15th August 1907. Also a copy of The Empire newspaper with articles about Prince Rupert that he sent back to his family.
The cap badge and one collar badge were made by R Gaunt & Son London, the other three collar badges have no makers mark. Some of the buttons were made by Mith & Wright in Birmingham UK, some were made by Thomas Carlyle in Birmingam UK.

I am concerned that the flash photos are making the medals and buttons look more gold than brass, so I have added an extra picture taken without flash. Everything is definitely brass or a white metal, not silver.
