US Deputy Marshal Inscribed Badge
US Deputy Marshal Inscribed Badge:
Wonderful obsolete US Deputy Marshal inscribed badge. The name inscribed on the badge reads Paden Tolbert who was a 19th-century American law enforcement officer and railroad agent. He was one of the leading deputy U.S. Marshals in the Indian Territory during the 1880s and 90s and often worked with other well-known lawmen of his time including Bud Ledbetter, Heck Thomas and Bill Tilghman. He and his brother John Tolbert were both deputy marshals under "The Hanging Judge" Isaac Parker. Badge measures 1-7/8 high by 1-3/4 wide. Hallmark stamp on back reads “US BADGE”. On the very bottom front there are two tiny letters written in Victorian script. From what we can see it bears two initials. We acquired this unique badge from a private estate sale. However, since there was no documentation we cannot guarantee its authenticity and provenance. Therefore item is being sold as is.
