Tour

CopBlockPAT.LOGO.COM.RV3

The Police Accountability Tour, on the road from mid-August until December, 2013, sought to maximize police accountability by facilitating connections and collaboration among those who know that badges don’t grant extra rights, and through skill sharing and the capturing and dissemination of relevant content.

This tour connected individuals involved with Cop Block, Cop Watch, and Peaceful Streets groups as well as all police-watching groups and people around the world, so we can together advance a reality free from institutionalized violence.

On this page, CopBlock.org/Tour, is a bit more about the tour – the route, motivation, and the folks involved.

At CopBlock.org/TourStops is a bit more about each stop, including content from each area.

Below is the Police Accountability Tour playlist, organized newest-oldest:

Pete Eyre

2013-02-05-copbock-tour-columbia-meetup-peteeyre[co-founder, on the road in Austin, NYC, Cape Town, Oakland, Denver, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans]

Pete Eyre is one of the many folks involved with the decentralized CopBlock.org. He went to undergrad and grad school for law enforcement, spent four years in the DC think tank world (as an intern at the Cato Institute, a Koch Fellow at the Drug Policy Alliance, Directer of Campus Outreach at the Institute for Humane Studies, Crasher-in-Chief at Bureaucrash, and as a contractor for the Future of Freedom Foundation), then  He later hit the road as co-founder of the Motorhome Diaries and Liberty On Tour and is now most  police accountability. Pete now calls Keene, in the ‘shire his homebase.

Garret Ean

[on the road in Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans]

Garret is active with Keene Cop Block and is now founding Peaceful Streets KeeneGarret has had an interest in police accountability since the time he was contemplating entering law enforcement through college. After concluding that the monopolistic protection services offered by the state could and often do harm more people than it claims to help, he opted out of trying to fix the broken system from within and instead found the videocamera to be the most effective tool for attaining justice. Video evidence captured by a third party helped Garret successfully defend himself against two disorderly conduct charges levied against him following the Manchester NH police’s Chalking 8 incident.

After moving to Keene from his native Concord, Garret and other friends picked up the torch on Robin Hooding parking meter activism, where a coordinated effort is made to keep occupied parking meters in compliance to prevent the issuance of expired meter citations. Robin Hooding has attracted global attention and raised legal questions about the people’s right to interact with and film government employees in response to a pending lawsuit filed against many Robin Hooders by the Keene city government. Garret has been involved with Keene Cop Block and is presently developing Keene Peaceful Streets with a wider focus on community crime prevention. You can find the varied content Garret shares with the world, from weekly videos to articles and graphics, at his website FreeConcord.org, as well as his numerous YouTube channels FreeConcordTV, Fr33manTVraw, and AquaKeene.

Jacob Crawford

Jacob Crawford is a long time Copwatcher based out of the Bay Area in California. He joined Berkeley Copwatch in 2000 and produced the first ever “in the streets” non-dramatized know your rights video, These Streets Are Watching.

He has been a contributor for Copblock for several years and currently is running WeCopwatch.org with other Copwatchers. Jacob is now allocating time to the San Fran office of the National Laywers Guild.

Freedoms Phoenix

We recognize that Freedom was taken from us the moment the ink was drying on the Constitution.

Today’s governmental structure is imploding under its own weight, and its death rattles aren’t going to be pretty. At Freedom’s Phoenix we observe, comment and try to stay out of the way.

We know Freedom will rise from the ashes, and we want to make sure that everyone’s Freedom is never signed away again by those who believe they have the power to do so.
