Fresno CopBlocker Crowdfunding Campaign for Civil Rights Attorney.
In November of 2014, I was arrested by Sgt. Andy Murcado, Dave Garza, and Officer Vasquez while waiting for a friend in a public park. We had plans to grab lunch, and hang out with his little brother. By the time my friend had arrived, I was in the middle of an argument with Sgt. Murcado about the legality of his detainment. He was holding me at the point of a taser, and claiming I was under arrest for resisting his lawful detainment. He had accused me of making threatening gestures to passersby. I was charged with making threatening gestures, and resisting arrest. Both charges were dropped, and the case was dismissed.
The case being dismissed was never disclosed to me, and I only found out because a public defender representing me on a different case was attempting to retrieve my cameras, that they had confiscated, so I could see if there was any evidence that would exonerate me. When I had the cameras returned, I was able to make the footage of the arrest public, as well as begin the process of fighting back.
After a consultation with an attorney that I was set up with, it appears that it may cost up to 10 thousand dollars to retain a civil rights attorney. I hope it does not come to this, but all aspects must be considered.
If after you watched those three Fresno police officers kidnap me you were outraged, please consider donating 1 dollar to help me fight back.
If I am able to retain council pro bono all donations will be returned.
I will also attempt to repay any donors I am able to maintain contact with out of any restitution that is paid. I am not seeking to capitalize off of anyone, but injustice must be fought, and the only repercussions they seem to understand, hit them in the wallet.
This is not the first time I have been harassed or arrested by the Fresno Police, and I am positive it won’t be the last time. Please help me fight back.
